Buff Coffee, 2, Son of Well-Known Family, Dies of Poisoning

An autopsy performed at Crawford by Dr. R. L. Ivins of Crawford and Dr. Kennedy of Alliance, revealed that Buff Coffee, 2, died of strychnine poisoning, taken acidentally while he was playing around the ranch buildings at his parent's Warbonnet ranch, north of Harrison, Tuesday morning, July 22.

Buff is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William B. Coffee, ranchers of that region. It is believed that he found the strychnine
tablets in one of the ranch buildings while playing. As soon as it was discovered he was not feeling well, he was taken to Crawford, where he died at 11:30 a.m.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 24, on what would have been Buff's second birthday, at the John Coffee home in Harrison. The Rev. J. M. Etheredge conducted the services at 2 p.m., and interment followed in the Harrison cemetery.
