Mrs. J.C. Stone, Prominent Lusk Resident, Passes Away After Four Months' Illness; Funeral Tuesday

An illness of four months from a serious heart ailment, claimed the life of Mrs. Ethel Palmer Stone at the family home here at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, December 8th. Mrs. Stone had been confined to bed for considerable time because of this illness and was a patient at the local hospital for some time. She became gravely ill last week and for several days prior to her death little hope was held for her recovery.

The deceased was the wife of John C. Stone, assistant cashier of the Lusk State bank, and with him, had been a resident of this city for the past four years. During the time the couple have lived here, Mrs. Stone had acquired a host of warm friends, many of whom were unaware of the seriousness of her sickness, and who will be deeply grieved by her passing.

The remains were placed in charge of George Earl Peet of the Peet mortuary of this city, and later sent to Eaton, Colo., where funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon. Several resident of this city went to Eaton to attend the last rites.

Ethel Palmer Stone was born in Silver Plume, Colo., on August 5, 1889, and at the time of her death was 51 years, 4 months and 2 days of age.

Part of her girlhood was spent in the towns of Central City and Cripple Creek. She moved to Eaton in 1904 and was united in marriage to John C. Stone on February 20, 1916. They resided there until they moved to Lusk.

Mrs. Stone was a member of the Eastern Star and Rebekah lodges, and for many years actively participated in the work of both.

Besides her husband, the deceased is survived by two sisters, Mrs. George Cumley and Mrs. T.D. Hicks, both of Eaton, Colo.; one niece, Dixie Anderson and one nephew, Glenn Hicks; other relatives and a host of friends.
