LOCAL WOMAN PASSES AWAY AT HOSPITAL JULY 26

MRS. JELENA MIDDLETON SUCCUMBS TO CANCER MONDAY OF THIS WEEK

Mrs. Jelena Smith Middleton departed this life at the Lusk hospital, Monday, July 26, 1926, after an illness of nearly two years, during which time she was a suffer(er) from cancer.

Mrs. Middleton was born January 27, 1876 in MIssissippi. On the 20th day of June, 1808, she was united in marriage with Benjamin Elgin Middleton and to this union six children were born.

Mr. and Mrs. MIddleton and family came to Wyoming in 1915 and took up residence on a homestead north of Lusk. Mr. Middleton passed away February 6, 1916 and interment was made in the Lusk cemetery. The remainder of the family continued their residence on the homestead for several years after which time they moved to Lusk and have since made this city their home.

Mrs. Middleton was a member of the Baptist church since the age of 12 years.

Services were held at the local Baptist church Tuesday, July 27 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. N. C. Coggin officiating. Funeral rites were directed by G. J. Armstrong and interment was made in the Lusk cemetery.

The deceased is survived by her six children: Mrs. Hettie Lee St. John of Rawlins, Mrs. A. E. Thomas of Whitman and Benjamin Franklin, James Oscar, Winifred Esther and Ethel Virginia, all of Lusk; two sisters, the Mesdames Rosa Cothran of Gulfport, MIss., and Alma Nix of Winona, Miss, and one brother, Sanford Smith of Iuka, Miss.
