Bizzard Forces Postponement of Grammar Funeral

Funeral services which were to have been held for Sarah Grammer Sunday were postponed because of the blizzard until this afternoon, April 6, at which time a private service was held at the Peet Mortuary at 2:00 p.m.

The remains will be shipped to Torrington and thence to Hastings, Ia. for interment.

The following obituary is the one that was read at the services here.

Sarah Elizabeth Grammar, the daughter of Thomas and Martha Overstreet, was born in Bethany, Mo., on September 23, 1873, and passed away at Spencer Hospital in Lusk, Wyo., on April 1, 1955 at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 9 days. At the age of seven years she moved with her parents to Hastings, Iowa where she grew to young womanhood. She was united in marriage to Joseph Franklin Grammar on December 2, 1888. To this union nine children were born: Mrs. Ina Morse of Malvern, Iowa; Mrs. Faye Whittaker, Kremling, Colo.; Mrs. Laura Lee, Lusk, Wyo.; Mrs. Frankie Kettler, Manville, Wyo.; Mrs. Georgia Lee, Lance Creek, Wyo.; (Paul Grammar, who died in infancy),; Mrs. Minola Miller, Keeline, Wyo.; Charles Grammar of Eversite, Washington,; Raymond Grammar of Powell, Wyo.

The family lived in Iowa until 1909 when they moved to Carnes, Nebr., where they lived on a farm for 10 years. In 1919 they moved to the Keeline vicinity in Niobrara County, where the family resided until the death of her husband. Since that time she resided among her children and more recently has lived in Lusk.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, known as Frank Grammar, at Keeline, Wyo., on February 2, 1926.

Besides the children mentioned above there are surviving 32 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and one great, great, grandchild. There are five generations represented at the time of her death.

Mrs. "Bessie" Grammar was a good wife and mother. Her faith and devotions were to her family and friends, with kindness, honesty and friendliness. She had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge for several years.

Burial will be made beside her husband, Frank Grammar, in the Hastings cemetery at Hastings, Iowa.
