Death Claims Mrs. Charles W. Miller Wednesday, January 4th, in Spencer Hospital; Last Rites to be Saturday

Mrs. Donna Joan Miller, wife of Charles W. Miller, rancher of the Divide Community northeast of Lusk, passed away at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Spencer Hospital, where she had given a caesarian birth to a daughter on Sunday, January 1st. She was making satisfactory progress until the day before her demise when complications arose and her condition steadily grew worse until her demise.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, January 7th, from the Peet Chapel with Rev. Jacob Nein, Pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating.

Donna Joan Wood was born February 11, 1934 at Edgerton, Wyo., the eldest child of Solomon L. and Katherine (Hanson) Wood and departed this life January 4, 1956 at the age of 21 years, ten months and 21 days.

Mr. and Mrs. Wood and family resided at Edgerton until late in 1939 when they moved to Lusk and Donna entered the first grade of elementary school. Her elementary education was received in Lusk and at Node. She returned to the Lusk schools as a freshman in high school and was graduated with the class of '51 from the Lusk High School.

Following her graduation from high school she enrolled in the Central Business College of Denver, Colo., graduating with the class of '52. Donna returned to Lusk after her graduation from business college and was employed as secretary in the office of County Attorney James. E. Barrett.

Donna Joan Wood and Charles W. Miller were united in marriage March 1st, 1953 in the First Congregational Church of Lusk, and shortly thereafter, moved to the Wood ranch northeast of Lusk in the Divide community where they have since made their home. They became the parents of three children, a son and two daughters.

Mrs. Miller was a charter member of the Rosebud chapter of Theta Rho Girls Clubs and a member of Bethel No. 10, International Order of Job's Daughters, and the First Congregational church of Lusk.

She was preceded in death by her father, Solomon L. Wood on May 17, 1950, and a son, Douglas Charles, who passed away at the age of two days, on November 10th, 1953.

Survivors include her husband, Chas. W. Miller and two daughters, Cynthia Joan and Cheryl Kay, her mother, Mrs. Katherine Wood, two sisters, Carole and Janice, all of Lusk, one brother, James Wood, a student at the Yankton college in Yankton, So. Dak., and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anthon Hansen of Lusk.

Large Crowd Attends Funeral Services For Mrs. Charles W. Miller Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles W. Miller were held in the Peet Mortuary Chapel Saturday afternoon. According to the Mortuary the crowd that gathered to pay their final respects was one of the largest ever to attend a funeral held in the Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the Lusk Congregational Church, officiated. Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery.

A mixed double quartet composed of Mrs. James B. Griffith, Jr., Miss Phyllis Johns, Mrs. Dale M. Bardo, Mrs. Samuel M. Thomas, Dale M. Bardo, James Willson, Gerald Bardo and Lee Johnsonbaugh sang "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "Sun of My Soul." Mrs. Gerald Bardo was organist.

Casket bearers were Everett Kilmer, Glen Parmely, Luther Penfield, Lee James, Glen Crofutt and Arthur Mahnke.

Donna Joan Wood, eldest child of the Solomon L. and Katherine (Hansen) Wood, was born February 11, 1934 in Edgerton, Wyoming and died January 4, 1956.

She attended the Node Grade School and Lusk High School where she was graduated with the class of 1951. After completing her schooling here she attended Central Business Colllege in Denver from which she was graduated with the class of '52. She was then employed as secretary in the office of County Attorney James E. Barrett. Later she was Society Editor of The Lusk Herald.

She was married March 1, 1953 to Charles Miller. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Miller.

She is survived by her husband, Charles and two children, Cynthia Joan and Cheryl Kay, the latter being born January 1. Douglas Charles preceded her in death, having died November 10, 1953.

Her father, Solomon L. Wood, died May 17, 1950. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. Katherine Wood, a brother, James Wood, student at Yankton College, and two sisters, Carole and Janice at the family home; and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anthon Hansen of Lusk.

Donna Jo Miller dies in Hospital Here Wednesday

Mrs. Charles W. Miller, 21, died about 1:45 this Wednesday afternoon in the Spencer Hospital in Lusk from complications following the caesarean section delivery of a daughter at 9:00 a.m. January 1. The baby is reported in fine condition.

Donna Joan Miller was born to the late Sol and Katherine Wood, in Edgerton, Wyo., February 11, 1934. She attended the Node Grade School and Lusk High School where she was graduated with the class of 1951. After completing her schooling here she attended Central Business College in Denver. She and Charles W. Miller were married March 1, 1953.

She was employed for a time as society editor of The Lusk Herald.

She is survived by her husband, her mother, and two daughters, Cynthia, one year old, and the new-born baby. Also surviving are a brother, James Wood, student at Yankton College, and two sisters, Carole and Janice.
