Funeral Services For Mrs. Wood Held Saturday

Mrs. Emily L. Wood, 68, life time resident of Lusk, died October 1, at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk. Eastern Star services were held at the Peet Mortuary Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Frank Bozart of Edgerton, formerly of Lusk, officiated. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. J. P. Watson rendered organ music and accompanied Mrs. Dean Glandt and Mrs. Samuel M. Thomas as they sang "In The Garden" and the Rev. Allen Page of the Open Bible Church as he sang "The Old Rugged Cross."

Casket bearers were Archie Huey, Earnest Hansen, Leslie ZumBrunnen, Al Davenport, Cliff Cox and Henry Myers.

Honorary bearers were Vern Sowers, C. E. Marvin, Dave Wilson, Menno Kaan, Nick T. Kaan and Roy Zumbrunnen.

Mrs. Wood was born December 7, 1899, to Mr. and Mrs. George J. Lorenzen in a building where a portion of The Lusk Herald building is now located. She received her education in the Lusk School system.

August 12, 1919, she was married to Samuel J. Wood. He died October 21, 1957.

She was a past worthy matron of Niobrara Chapter 26 Order of Eastern Star, and was currently acting treasurer. Mrs. Wood worked with Job's Daughters and for three years acted as guardian. She is a past noble grand of the Lusk Rebekah Lodge.

Mrs. Wood worked at the H. R. Daniels Jewelry Store and later in the Scotts Jewelry for many years. After Mr. Scotts' death she managed the store until it was sold.

At the time of her death she held the position as treasurer for the Rebekah Lodge. In 1936 she was president of Rebekah District Association No. 6 and received a degree of Chivalry in 1951 at Torrington at a Rebekah State Convention.

She attended the Open Bible Church in Lusk and her community activities included an active part in the Niobrara County Cancer Society.

Her husband, her parents, and a brother, Jurdgen P. Lorenzen died previously.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Effie Senters, and a brother, John Lorenzen, both of Lusk; nephews, nieces and numerous great-nephews and nieces.

Emily Wood Dies Tuesday; Funeral Here Saturday

Mrs. Emily Wood, 68, a lifetime resident of Lusk, died in the Niobrara Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon. She had been suffering from leukemia for some time, but had been hospitalized only since Saturday. Funeral services will be held from the Peet Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Lorenzen, was born December 7, 1899, in a building where a portion of The Lusk Herald building is now located.

The Rev. Frank Bozart of Edgerton, Wyo., and formerly of Lusk, will officiate at the services.

Donations to the Cancer Society as well as flowers are acceptable memorials.
