Bryan D. Burge Lusk Business Man, Dies Fri.

Bryan D. Burge, 59, Lusk business man for the past 20 years died Friday following an illness of two years. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. from Peet Chapel with Rev. Otha B. Holcomb officiating. Final Masonic rites were accorded the deceased by the Lusk Harmony Lodge No. 24. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Emerson Bonner, Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, and Mrs. Otha B. Holcomb sang "Home of the Soul", "Some Bright Morning" and "Nearer My God To Thee." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.

Pallbearers were L. T. Bonner, Al Knudsen, Arthur Lauer, Paul Heany, Kenneth Kirby Emil Klemke, Ed Lang and Venus Kilmer.

Bryan Dewey Burge was born June 26, 1899 at Ainsworth, Nebr., the son of William and Mary Burge. He attended the public schools in Nebraska and spent the early years of his life there.

He came to Lusk in 1938 and built the North Side Service Station, which he operated for a number of years. September 3, 1939 he married Agnes Johnson of Lusk; and here has been the place of their residence during their married life together. They built the Burge Motors Garage in 1949; and Bryan had the agency for Studebaker cars for a number of years. In the early part of 1954 he took the agency for Lincoln and Mercury.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lusk and served in the office of deacon, trustee and in various other offices and responsibility as a faithful member.

He was a member of Harmony Lodge No. 24 of Lusk; and of the Scottish Rite of Cheyenne and the Odd Fellows Lodge of Lusk.

In January 1958 Bryan and Jim Berry became partners in the Lusk Motors. Bryan was a successful business man and received several awards and honors for his achievements in the sale of motor cars.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Agnes Burge; one daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. Mary Lynn Mayfield, David City, Nebr.; three grandchildren, Janice Stevie and James Mayfield. Six sisters: Mrs. Alta Seeley, Kansas; Mrs. Allen Gunn, Kansas; Mrs. Goldie Conn, Mrs. Berniece Parr, Mrs. Edna Hong, all of Oregon, Mrs. Doris Paisley, Casper; five brothers Marion Burge, Wenatchi, Wash., Manney Burge , Chico, Ore.; Bill Burge, Roseberg, Ore., and Clem Burge, Loveland, Colo.
