Rita Mae Rohen

Rita Mae Rohen, 81, of Omaha, Neb. passed away June 4, 2012. She was born July 20, 1930 in Harrison, Nebraska to Raymond and Merle (Mason) Riley (deceased). She grew up on a ranch 25 miles SW of Harrison. Rita went to country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Sioux County High School in 1947. She taught grade school for one year then married Rolland (Bud) Harrison and moved to Billings, Montana. Bud died from a brain aneurism August 11, 1959 and Rita moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1960. In 1966 she married Willard Zimmerman and moved to Omaha. They divorced in 1975; Rita married John Rohen, Sr. (Jack) in 1977 and they divorced in 1991.

Rita was a member of the Rockbrook United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Order of the Eastern Star. She served as an officer in the local U.M.W. units and was a district officer.

Rita was active in square and round dancing, enjoyed playing bridge, and was a gifted artist. Rita also did quilting, embroidery, crochet and tatting. She is survived by her devoted companion, Robert Raasch, of Omaha; her sister, Bonnie Lay, of Wheatland, Wyo.; nieces Virginia Allen and Shelly Kellogg of Park City, Kan.; nephews Ron Lay of Riverton, Wyo., Larry Lay of Shoshoni, Wyo. and Bryan Lay of Wheatland, Wyoming and numerous great nieces and nephews.
