Last Rites Held For Mrs. Vermeule

Funeral rites were held for Mrs. Charles Vermeule in the Peet chapel on Tuesday, October 16, at 2:00 p.m.

Rev. Clyde Hampton officiated, and two songs, "Sometime We'll Understand" and "Rock of Ages" were sung by Mrs. H. J. Templeton and Miss LaVerne Johns, with Mrs. J.P. Watson as accompanist.

The casket bearers were James McCune, Arcie Voorhees, Harry Carlisle, Archie Sparks, A. C. Tibbetts and John McCleery.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery.

Mrs. Vermeule passed away at Evanston, Wyo., following a lengthy illness, and the remains were brought to Lusk, arriving here on Monday.

Josephine Rutherford, daughter of Mariah and Raphael Rutherford, was born at Audubon, Iowa, May 12, 1882. Her girlhood was spent in that section of the State and her education obtained in the schools of that vicinity.

She was married to Charles Vermeule on February 10, 1906. To this union were born three sons and one daughter - Lloyd of Lusk, Floyd of the U. S. Navy, Mrs. Mary Volmer, who passed away on April 11, 1936, and one son who died in infancy.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Vermeule located in South Dakota and also lived for some time in Nebraska before locating in Lusk in 1929, which has been their home since that time.

Mrs. Vermeule passed from this life on October 10, at the age of 63 years. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Lloyd and Floyd, and by two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Campbell of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mrs. Ora Waldo of Fontana, California.
