Charles Lawton, Former Lusk Resident, Buried Here Sunday

Funeral services for Charles Lawton, 69, former resident of Lusk, were conducted here Sunday. Mr. Lawton passed away at his home in Loveland, Colo., Thursday, June 17, after being stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage on the preceding Tuesday.

His sister, Mrs. Otto Koeberlin of Lusk, went down to Loveland on Tuesday, but his daughter, Mrs. LaVern Troyer of Salt Lake City, in company with her daughter, Miss Carol Clark of Lusk, had started on a trip to California and could not be located. Mrs. Troyer had not been well and was making the trip for her health.

Charles Clinton Lawton was born October 28, 1874, at Carthage, Ill., and in 1898 was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Hankins of Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

In 1913 Mr. and Mrs. Lawton and their small daughter moved to Wyoming and took up a homestead a few miles south of Lusk. Some time later Mr. Lawton entered the employ of the Ohio Oil Co. at Lance Creek.

Mrs. Lawton passed away in 1917 and in 1925 Mr. Lawton moved to Colorado, and since that time has resided in Ft. Collins, Estes Park and Loveland.

Besides his daughter, Mrs. LaVern Troyer of Salt Lake City, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Otto Koeberlin, and two grandchildren, Lawton and Carol Clark, all of Lusk; his mother, Mrs. Laura Lawton, and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Rood, both of Albion, Michigan; another sister, Miss Amy Lawton, of Omaha, Neb., and a brother, Ralph, resides in New York City.

Funeral services were held at the Peet Chapel on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, with Rev. M.H. Marshall of the Congregational Church officiating.

Music was furnished by Miss Yvonne Vogel and Miss Patricia Taylor with Mrs. J.P. Watson at the instrument.

The Masonic services were conducted at the grave and he was laid to rest beside his wife.

The casket bearers were Menno Kaan, Henry Kaan, Julius Schley, L.R. Van Tassell, Archie Sparks and Charles Scace.
