William Andrew Shaffer, 84, of Guernsey died Monday, March 16 in Torrington

Services will be at St. Anthony's Catholic church in Guernsey on Friday, March 20 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Tony Jablonowski officiating. Burial will be in the Hartville Cemetery. Rosary will be at the church in Guernsey, Thursday, March 19, 1902 at Scottsdale. When he was two years old he went to live with his grandparents in Indian Head, PA. At age 11 he came to Cedar Top, WY, which was near Glendo, with his parents, where they homesteaded.

He worked for various ranches in Nebraska and Wyoming. He married Josephine Teresa Frances Cato in Lusk on March 26, 1936. They lived in Flattop, which was between Manville and Hartville.

In October 1940 he went to work for the Sunrise Mine in Hartville. He also ranched. They moved to Guernsey in 1957. He retired from the mine in 1967.

His hobbies were breaking horses and dancing.

He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Guernsey.

Survived by a daughter Ellen Mae Lamb of Lusk; one brother, Levi Shaffer of Casper; one son-in-law, Pete Anderson of Torrington; four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, Adele Anderson; a step-daughter, Dorothy Lou Defransco; three half-sisters and one half-brother.

Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington is in charge of the arrangements.
