Mrs. A. A. Ong, 82, Dies October 11th

Mrs. A. A. Ong, 82, a resident of this community for the past 30 years, died at the Spencer Hospital Saturday, Oct. 11.

Lillie Etta lamb was born at Hopeville, Iowa December 3, 1864, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Lamb. When she was about sixteen years of age the family moved to Shenandoah, Ia. Mr. Ong was a railroad man the first year of their marriage and they lived at Moulton and Burlington, Ia.

In 1917 Mr. and Mrs. Ong homesteaded at Lance Creek on Little Lightning Creek, living there until Mr. Ong's death in 1939 after which she made her home with her son Leonard, at the old homestead.

She is survived by her son, Leonard, one daughter, Mrs. Lillie Jackson of Lusk, one brother, J.J. Lamb of Boulder, Colo., and one grandson, Robert Jackson, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ong united with the Christian Church at Burlington when a young woman and followed that faith throughout her life. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Chapel Monday afternoon at 2:30 by the Rev. Clyde E. Hampton.

A trio composed of Mrs. Abdon DeCastro, Mrs. Lafe Culver, Jr., and Mrs. C.E. Marvin, and "Softly and Tenderly," and "Asleep in Jesus." Mrs. J.P. Watson accompanied the singers.

The casket bearers were six nephews of Mrs. Ong.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery beside the body of her husband, who preceded her in death about eight years.
