Mrs. E.E. Fullerton Dies at Hospital in Hot Springs

Mrs. E.E. Fullerton of Jireh, well-known resident for the past sixteen years, of this county passed away at a hospital in Hot Springs. So. Dak., last Friday, following a surgical operation. Her death came as a shock to a wide circle of friends in this county. She had been at the hospital only a few days.

George Earl Peet of the Peet Mortuary drove over to Hot Springs and brought the remains back to Lusk where they were prepared for burial.

Funeral services took place Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist Church in Manville, with Rev. Carlton of Lost Springs officiating. Burial was made in the Jireh Cemetery. Miss Reba Fullerton, daughter of the deceased, formerly operated a beauty parlor in Lusk.

OBITUARY

Lillie Maud Gray was born on a farm near David City, Nebr.,April 23, 1880. She died at Hot Springs, S.D., lacking 19 days of being 50 years of age.

When but a mere child her parents took up a homestead two miles north of Atkinson, Neb. Here she attended school with other homestead children on the bleak prairies.

After finishing the country schools she attended high school at Atkinson, graduating from it in 1897 with the honors of her class. After her graduation she taught three years in the country schools. She was commended very highly for ability as an instructor and for the moral tone of her schools. On March 13, 1901, she was united in wedlock to Ernest E. Fullerton, a young farmer, who resided on a farm nearby. They immediately took up the duties of a home on a farm, taking an active part in its community activities.

Maud was always attentive to church and Sunday school and was an active member of the Christian Endeavor Society. After her marriage she joined the first Presbyterian Church of Atkinson, Nebr., Rev. F.D. Haner being their pastor. Rev. Haner also performed the ceremony which bound Mr. and Mrs.Fullerton in marriage.

Mrs. Fullerton gave birth to eight children, six of whom are living. Ernest Dale when one week old. In just one week later Donald Kenneth, a lad of 14 years, was killed by a runaway team. Mrs. Fullerton was very ill at these occurrences, and since them has been in very poor health.

On the 4th day of April, 1914, she with her husband and children came to Jireh, Wyo., taking a homestead three miles north of Jireh, making it their home until about two years ago.

Her membership in the church was changed from the Presbyterian of Atkinson, Neb., to the Christian Church of Jireh immediately after coming here. She was an active church worker in Jireh and taught the Young People's class until the discontinuation of the church there. She was also an active worker in the W.C.T.U.

He death was very sudden, following an operation performed in the Sisters' Hospital at Hot Springs.

She leaves to mourn: Her husband, E.E. Fullerton, Ivan I. Fullerton, Reba Arlene Fullerton and Edith Mae Bone, all of Jireh, Wyo., Mr. Beryl E. Fullerton of Lost springs, Wyo., and Mrs. Lola Hazel Carpenter of Holyoke, Colo. Her father, Mr. Byron Augustus Gray of Keeline, Wyo., A brother, Mr. Claude Gray of Sumatra , Mont. A sister, Mrs. Pearl Winkler of Atkinson, Nebraska, and four grand children.

Mrs. Fullerton met death bravely. She wanted to live but was not afraid to die.
