Larry Halligan

Larry Halligan, 69, of Lusk, passed away on June 9, 2025. Larry was born to Lloyd and Marion (Frye) Halligan on September 14, 1955. Larry graduated from NCHS in 1973.
Larry went directly to work in the oilfields, where he made so many lifelong friends. His brother Jesse was proud to learn from and work with Larry. Larry was promoted to tool pusher. Dewey Ellsworth worked for Larry on the rigs, not knowing their paths would cross again. After working in the oilfield, Larry became an over-the-road truck driver. He reconnected with Dewey Ellsworth, who owned the Silver Dollar Bar in Lusk. Larry worked for Dewey and ended up buying the bar, which he ran for 30-plus years. When Larry retired, his sister, Connie (Scrappy) Starkey, took over the bar.
Larry married Bess Sutherland on May 6, 1975. Bess was truly the love of Larry's life. She passed away on September 4, 2019.
Larry had a great singing voice. He loved playing the guitar; you could always find him singing karaoke at the Dollar. He loved to sing Seven Spanish Angels, a song very dear to his mother, Marion, and his wife, Bess. He enjoyed playing pool from time to time.
Larry is survived by his brother Jesse (Connie Sue) Halligan of Lusk and his sister Connie (Scrappy) Starkey of Lusk. He is also survived by three nephews, numerous cousins, and two stepdaughters, Jewell Ross and Cheryl McMillan of Lusk.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Raymon Jenkins, his loving wife Bess, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his stepdaughter Jamie Bryson.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Lusk cemetery.
