Martha Jane Hawley

Martha Jane Hawley passed away in the early morning hours of September 4, 2025, with her daughter Terry Jo by her side. Martha was born on September 6, 1935, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, to Joseph Franklin Wolfe and Rosetta Taylor Wolfe. Martha was the 11th child of 13 children.

On February 7, 1953, she married Howard Lee Hawley in Bridgeport, Illinois. They were blessed with six children and lived in Bridgeport until moving their family to Lance Creek, in the spring of 1969, having been transferred with Marathon Oil Company. In 1984, Howard and Martha moved to Manville.

Martha had many talents and taught herself to sew her own clothing and upholster furniture. She also enjoyed cutting and styling hair for friends and family. She was a wonderful cook and rarely used a recipe book. She loved dancing, playing pinochle with friends, and was an avid reader.

After the loss of her husband in 2006, Martha moved to Cody, where she lived until entering the Wyoming Retirement home in June of 2025. Martha loved her family and most of all the Lord Jesus Christ. Through the many years of her own physical suffering and loss of many loved ones, she never lost her faith. She is survived by her children Cathy Meier (Dennis) of Lusk; Terry Serres (Andy) of Cody; Steven Hawley of Cody; a sister Patricia Hardy (Phil) of Fort Myers, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard; sons Mark, David and Daniel; a grandson John Meier; her brothers Grant, Charles, Jack, Tom, Har-old, James and Kent; sisters Hilda Fielden, Mary Watkins, Joanne Gaither, and Barbara Blanchard. She will be forever missed by all those left behind.

A private family service is planned for a later date.

Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
