Eldon James Haworth

Eldon James Haworth of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed from this life, Friday, April 3, 2026. Eldon was born September 25, 1952 to Bill (Lauren William) and Maxine (Ardyce Maxine Clure) Haworth. He grew up in rural Sioux County calling the community of Andrews home. Eldon attended school at rural District 60 School, Panhandle School and District 48 School, Scottsbluff Public School, Niobrara County High School and graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison, Nebraska.

Eldon worked with his family during this time, and then as a local rancher and a member of a combine crew after high school. Eventually, he moved to working oil rigs and later on road construction jobs with Western Engineering. Because he was never one to sit still, even after retiring, he could be found around town doing lawn work with his own landscaping business, The Happy Gardener. All who knew Eldon, knew he was a dependable worker who gave his all for a full day's work. Even his four-legged sidekick, River, found it hard to keep up with him. Eldon was also extremely generous, and did his best to help anyone he could. Eldon’s life was not without troubles, but he never complained, just set his mind on work to get through it. Despite any of his hardships, he carried a twinkle in his eye and a bright smile on his face.

Eldon married Toni Carter in 1978. With Toni, he started his family, welcoming Randy Carter, whom he loved dearly. Randy was soon joined by a little sister Cally, the light of Eldon's life. Eldon married Rhonda Schwartzkopf on January 26, 2002. Together they welcomed granddaughters Vanessa and Breanna Harpold and grandson Nicolas Carter into their family. Eldon truly loved his children and grandchildren and would have moved mountains for each one of them.

Eldon is survived by his Daughter Cally (Josh) and son Randy (Missy) Carter, brothers Raymond (Pam), Steve and Tom, sisters Carolyn Sclisizzi, and Twila Haworth, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eldon was preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda Haworth; his parents Bill and Maxine; His brothers, Keith, Benny, and Bobby; His sisters Marjorie and Faith Ann; His half-sister Jennifer Lynn and his brother-in-law, Leandro Sclisizzi.

A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Congregational Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on Saturday, April 18th at 11am.
