Funeral for Elvin Haworth Held in Lusk Saturday

Funeral services for Elvin Haworth, 48, well known Niobrara rancher, were held in Lusk Saturday at the Peet Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Fred Schuett of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiated.

Mrs. Judson Watson, organist, accompanied Mrs. Robert Bramlet, Mrs. Walter Fernau, Harry Lyon and Dr. Richard Collins, as they sang "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" and "Nearer My God to Thee."

Casket bearers were Loren Barr, Richard Barnette, Walter Reed, Sam Reed, Red Carroll of Douglas, and George Carmin of Orin. Burial was in the Lusk cemetery.

Mr. Haworth's death April 3 resulting from a heart attack while moving cattle to shelter during a heavy blizzard, shocked and saddened the Niobrara community.

Elvin Haworth was born in Andres, Nebr. Feb. 23, 1920, to Percy Eli and Beula May Hutson Haworth. When five he moved to Orin, Wyo. with his parents and spent his boyhood in that area, graduating from the Douglas High School.

He was married to Josephine Ringer on June 22, 1946, in Keeline, and they are the parents of one daughter, Terri, 15. Mr. Haworth ranched in Niobrara all of his adult life, and he and Mrs. Haworth operated their present ranch in the Keeline area for the past seven or eight years.

He was a Brand Inspector with the Wyoming Stock Growers Association and a member of the Niobrara Roping Club.

Survivors include his wife and daughter; his mother, Mrs. Beula Haworth of Douglas; three sisters; Mrs. Ray Reed, Manville; Mrs. Harold Gillespie, Douglas; Mrs. Reba Thomas, Sturgis, S. Dak.; and several nieces and nephews.

Elvin Haworth Dies During Bizzard Wed

Elvin Haworth, a Keeline area rancher, died of a heart attack shortly before noon Wednesday morning.

A rescue team left Lusk Wednesday morning with the Lusk Volunteer Fire Department ambulance and a County four wheel drive
vehicle with a supply of oxygen for Mr. Haworth, but at The Herald's presstime they had not yet reached the Haworth ranch and their whereabouts was not known as they were not equipped with a radio.

Mr. Haworth was in his early 40's.
