Registration is still being accepted for the Afterschool Programs – call the library for more details or to register your child.
The first of three RIF (Reading is Fundamental) programs will be held Wednesday, February 9 at 6:30 at the library for preschool aged children through 6th grade.
RIF is a federal program that has been in existence since 1966. The program focuses on encouraging children to read by showing them that reading is truly fun. Through RIF, children have the opportunity to choose their very own book by themselves; books that excite them and books that they get to keep for their own. The program also encourages parental involvement and we encourage parents to participate with their children.
The Friends of the Library apply each year for this grant and provide the additional funds needed as well as the supplies for the activity hours. Generally 60-65 children attend and the evenings would not be successful without the fantastic volunteers we have through the FBLA and many others in the community. The hour-long programs presented at our library are book based programs and on the 9th the program will be a puppet show, “Little Red Racing Heart.” If you have questions or would like to know more about the event give us a call at the library, 334-3490.

For our younger readers, there is “Mr. Putter and Tabby Write a Book” by Cynthia Rylant and “Get Ready for Second Grade, Amber Brown” by Paula Danziger.
“Valentine Party” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, February 8, 2005. Storyhour is held each Tuesday throughout the year from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m children 3 through kindergarten.
