If you didn’t get a chance to attend the Nancy Curtis Brown Bag Lunch Program you missed a good one. Nancy spoke about various types of publishing as well as about some of the western history titles she has published. Questions and answers were also a part of the hour.
Did you know that library board members are all volunteers? Board members do not receive any reimbursement and frequently give financially as well as laboriously. Members of the Board of Trustees are appointed by the Niobrara County Commissioners to serve a three-year term and by state statute can serve an additional term. Board members are charged with overseeing library operations, setting policy and are active in library programs as well as all other aspects of library service.
Board members of the Foundation and the Friends of the Library also all serve as volunteers and give tirelessly as well as financially. As the saying goes, volunteers are the backbone of America; they are certainly the backbone of the library! On behalf of the library staff we say thank you to all of our board members for all of your efforts for the library and the community. We also extend a huge thank you to the volunteers who work in the library on a regular basis, Judy, Idy, Janice, Dorothy, Anne, Lisa and Hillary and those who do data entry for us at home! Without your help we don’t know where we would be.
The Foundation’s Monday Night Football books are ready, if you haven’t gotten yours stop by the library or contact a foundation member.

Our younger readers will enjoy “Search for the King” by Daniel Lipowitz.
“The Cat’s Meow” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, September 20, 2005. Storyhour is held every Tuesday throughout the year for children ages three through kindergarten.
