Library News for This Week!

The first of three Reading is Fundamental (RIF) programs will be held on Wednesday, February 14 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Children preschool through the sixth grade are invited to join the fun sponsored by the Friends of the Library. A skit based on the book, “Happy Valentine’s Day, Miss Hildy” by Lois Grambling will be performed by FBLA students. Valentine crafts and snacks will be included as well as the opportunity for each child attending to select their very own book. Books will be given away at the next two programs (March 14 and April 11) as well. If you have questions or would like more information please call or stop by the library.

The library will be closed on Monday, February 19, 2007 in observance of President’s Day, regular library hours resume on Tuesday.

Did you realize that periodicals can be checked out from the library? There is a wide variety – everything from “American Heritage,” “The Annals of Wyoming” and “Autoweek” to “Hairdo Ideas,” “House and Garden” and “Sports Illustrated for Kids.” Periodicals circulate for 2 weeks so stop in and check them out.

Recent new books include “The Rising Tide” by Jeff Shaara, “Ask the Parrot” by Richard Stark, “The Senator and the Priest” by Andrew M. Greeley, “Capital Crimes” by Jonathan and Faye Kellerman, “Next” by Michael Crichton, “Broken Flower” by V. C. Andrews, “The Four Insights : Wisdom, Power and Grace of the Earthkeepers” by Alberto Villoldo, “You, on a Diet: The Owners Manual for Waist Management” by Michael f. Roizen and “Devil’s Gate: Owning the Land, Owning the Story” by Tom Rea.

Junior readers will enjoy “Fireworks at the FBI” by Ron Roy as well as a set of books on “Pirates” with information on their history, treasures, codes, ships and hideouts.

Our youngest readers will be sure to like “Multiplying Menace: The Revenge of Rumpelstiltskin” by Pam Calvert, “Old Jake’s Skirts” by C. Anne Scott, “Cows Like You’ve Never Seen” by David Lill and “Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road” by Marla Franzee.

“Hat’s Off” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. Storyhour is held every Tuesday from 10 to 11 p.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten.
