The library will be closed on Tuesday, November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day.

Don’t forget, Friday, November 14 the Bald Mountain Rounders will be presenting a musical evening featuring sounds that are sure to please everyone. The event will be held at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds at 7:30 p.m. Voting via donations will also be held for a guest singer to sing along, those ‘up for election’ are: Julie Greenough, Carla Stroh, Dyann Diercks, Ross Diercks and Randy Hills. This evening is supported in part with a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council, through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes a great nation deserves great art. Tickets are available at the library for $10 or from any foundation member. Plan now to come out for a great evening of entertainment.

A new fiction book is “Heat Lightning” by John Sandford. Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Investigator Victor Flowers is contacted by Lucas Davenport. A man has been found in Stillwater near a veteran’s memorial with two shots to the head. The victim has a lemon in his mouth – exactly like the body they found last week…. be sure to call to reserve this new thriller.

Other new fiction includes “An Evil Guest” by Gene Wolfe, “The Vigilante: Six-Gun Law” by Jory Sherman, “The Comforts of a Muddy Saturday” by Alexander McCall Smith, “Sunset” by Karen Kingsbury and “The Keepsake” by Tess Gerritson.

New non-fiction books are “Letter to My Daughter” by Maya Angelou, “The Good Teen: Rescuing Adolescence From the Myths of the Storm and Stress Years” by Richard M. Lerner, Ph.D., and “Dime Novel Desperados: the Notorious Maxwell Brothers” by John E. Hallwas.

A new young adult book is “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” by Sherman Alexie.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new books “Lauren the Puppy Fairy” by Daisy Meadows and “Chick-Napped” by Carolyn Keene. New picture books are“Robo Monster” by Jake Black and “If You Give a Cat a Cupcake” by Laura Numeroff.

“I’m Thankful for Books” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, November 18 and Thursday, November 20. Storyhour is held each Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 through kindergarten throughout the year.
