Interested in a thought provoking book series in this political year? The library will be hosting the series, “Figureheads” sponsored by the Wyoming Humanities Council this fall with the first book discussion on Wednesday, September 1 at 6:30 p.m. Stop by the library to get your copy of the book Roscoe by William Kennedy. Other books to be discussed are: All the King’s Men by Robert Penn Warren, The Gay Place by Billy Lee Brammer and Primary Colors by Anonymous. These books are based on the lives of famous politicians. Wayne Deahl will return to lead the discussions.
The film“Jack and the Beanstalk” will be shown on Thursday, August 19 at 1 p.m. This family approved film is rated G and is 94 minutes and stars Gilbert Gottfried, Chevy Chase and the voice of James Earl Jones.
A new fiction book is Family Ties by Danielle Steel. New non-fiction books are “Absolutely Small: How Quantum Theory Explains Our Every Day World” by Michael D. Fayer, “Spoken From the Heart” by Laura Bush and “Live to Ride: the Rumbling, Roaring World of Speed, Escape, and Adventure on Two Wheels” by Wayne Johnson.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has this new junior title: “The Treasure of Dead Man’s Lane and Other Case Files” by Simon Cheshire. New picture books are “Bear in Underwear” by Todd H. Doodler, “Chippy Chipmunk Parties in the Garden” by Kathy Miller and “First Grade Jitters” by Robert Quackenbush.
“Back to School” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, August 17 and Thursday, August 19. Effective September 1, 2010 we are returning to the once-a-week Storyhour format, Storyhour will be held each Tuesday and the Thursday program will be discontinued. This program is held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for children age three until they enter first grade.
