Behind every legend lies an impossible dream. Witness the spectacular journey of an incredible horse, Secretariat, and the moving story of his unlikely owner, a housewife who risked everything to make him a champion in the final film in the Steed Reads Festival @ the Library on Monday, April 18 at 6 p.m. Secretariat will be accompanied by a light meal and discussion will be facilitated by Deane Tucker, Chadron State College professor. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council, through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts and locally from a grant with the NCSD Recreation District.

Georgia Bottoms of Six Points, Alabama is beautiful and charming, a splendid cook and a seller of exquisite handmade quilts. Georgia is a faithful churchgoer who cares for her aged mother and younger brother However, Georgia Bottoms also has a discreet side business entertaining six local gentlemen whose “gifts” help maintain her position. New adult non-fiction books are “The Civil War: the First Year Told By Those Who Lived It” edited by Brooks D. Simpson, “Your Dog is Your Mirror: the Emotional Capacity of Our Dogs and Ourselves” by Kevin Behan and “Dancing Lessons: How I Found Passion and Potential on the Dance Floor and in Life” by Cheryl Burke.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books by Jake Maddox: “Mr. Strike Out”, “BMX Bully” and “Disc Golf Drive” plus “Missing Grace” by Elizabeth McDavid Jones. A new picture book is “Mouse and Mole: a Winter Wonderland” by Wong Herbert Yee.
