The library will be closed on Monday, May 30, 2011 for Memorial Day, regular hours resume on Tuesday, May 31.

It’s time to register your children for the 2011 Summer Reading program at the library. “One World, Many Stories” is the theme for the weekly program which begins on Wednesday, June 1 at 1 p.m. The program is for children that have completed the first through fifth grades and continues through July 13. Stop by today, or call 334-3490.

June 2 begins the summer film series held each Thursday at 1 p.m. The library provides the popcorn, but children need to bring their own beverage.

A new fiction book is “The Deepest Waters” by Dan Walsh. For John and Laura Foster, what began as a fairy tale honeymoon in 1857 aboard the steamship SS Vandervere soon becomes a nightmare. A terrible hurricane strikes and the grand ship is lost in the murky depths of the Atlantic. Laura is rescued with the other women and children but John is missing. Laura hopes for a miracle, but she realizes she must face the possibility of a life alone.

Other new fiction books include “Bathsheba” by Jill Eileen Smith, “The Land of Painted Caves” by Jean Auel, “Please Look after Mom” by Kyung-sook Shin, “The Inn at Angel Island” by Thomas Kinkaid, “Late Edition” by Fern Michaels, “A Place of Peace” by Amy Clipston and “The Cloud Roads” by Martha Wells.

“Broadway Dreams” by N. B. Grace is now available on the YA shelf.

New non-fiction books are “The Guru in You: A Personalized Program for Rejuvenating Your Body and Soul” by Cameron Alborizan, “All My Life: a Memoir” by Susan Lucci and “Lives Worth Living, History Worth Preserving: a Brief History of Wyoming Homesteading, Ranches, and Farming 1860-1960” by Michael Cassity.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new books “Weirdo Halloween” by R. L. Stine, “Ghost in the Machine” by Patrick Carman, “Mama, Why?” by Karma Wilson and “Death Star Battle” by Simon Bee Croft.
