Wednesday, November 9, the library will show the documentary film “Forks Over Knives” at 6 p.m. A light meal will be served and Cathy Fliris, FNP will be on hand to facilitate the discussion.
The two film documentary series will be concluded on November 16 with the film, “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” also showing at 6 p.m. Joe Cross was physically at the end of his rope. Traditional medicine was no longer helping him and he had one goal in mind: to get off his pills and achieve a balanced lifestyle. What emerges is nothing short of amazing — an inspiring tale of healing and human connection. “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” will be accompanied by a light meal and Cathy Fliris will also facilitate. A new suspense book by Richard Castle of the T.V. series “Castle” is “Heat Rises.” The grotesque murder of a parish priest at a New York bondage club begins as a by-the-book investigation but rapidly escalates into a hunt for devious conspirators in high places. When Nikki Heat gets too close to the truth she finds herself disgraced, stripped of her badge and out on her own as a target for the killers with nobody to trust except reporter Jameson Rook. “Castle” is also available at the library on DVD.

Parker’s Killing the Blues” by Michael Brandman, “My Summer of Southern Discomfort” by Stephanie Gayle, “Only Time Will Tell” by Jeffery Archer and “Christmas At Timberwoods” by Fern Michaels. “The Lost Hero” by Rick Riordan and “Michael Vey: the Prisoner of Cell 25” by Richard Paul Evans are new in the young adult section.
“Shooting From the Lip: the Life of Senator Al Simpson” by Donald Loren Hardy, “Here Comes Trouble: Stories From My Life” by Michael Moore and “A Stolen Life: a Memoir” by Jaycee Dugard are new non-fiction books now available for either check-out or reserve.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books: “Stoneheart” and “Ironhand” by Charler Fletcher and “Magyke” and “Flyte” by Angie Sage. The picture book, “The Money We’ll Save” by Brock Cole is also new.
