This week begins a rather big job in the library. The ceiling in the Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library is being redone and next week new lighting will be installed. Dvd’s, videos, some books and children’s material as well as the reading tables have been relocated to the basement during this transition.
On Monday, March 19 the library will be closed for potentially the entire week as new lighting is installed on the main floor. Item limits will be raised to accommodate this interruption, so don’t hesitate to check out a few more items. It is hoped that the library will be able to open through the Carnegie entrance the end of that week, we’ll keep you posted.
The Niobrara County Library Foundation will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Sunday, March 18 at the Niobrara Country Club beginning at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $35, for more details contact Tom Dooper at 334-2013 or 334-2500, Lisa Pischel at 340-0471 or the library at 334-3490. A new book by Kristin Hannah is “Home Front.” Like many couples, Michael and Jolene Zarkades face the pressures of everyday life. “Kit Carson: the Life of an American Border Man” by Daniel Remley is now available on the non-fiction shelf as well as “Mastering Skateboarding” by Per Welinder and “The Pregnancy Project: a Memoir” by Gaby Rodriquez.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books: “Nina the Night Owl Fairy” by Daisy Meadows and “The Mighty Miss Malone” by Christopher Paul Curtis, plus additional titles in the Judy Moody series by Megan McDonald. Some new picture books are “Solomon Crocodile” by Catherine Rayner, “If You Give a Dog a Donut” by Laura Numeroff and “A Giant Crush” by Gennifer Choldenko.
