The Friends of the Library will be hosting the second of three Reading Is Fun (RIF) programs on Wednesday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. The skit, “Silly Tilly’s Valentine” will be performed by members of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Children in attendance will have the opportunity to make a Valentine craft and each child will select and keep their very own book! If your child missed the January program they will be able to select two books! The fun all begins at 6:30 p.m. so plan to attend now! There are snacks too!

A new novel is “White Plague” by James Abel. In the remote, frozen waters of the Arctic Ocean, the high-powered and technically advanced submarine USS Montana is adrift and in flames. Joe Rush and his crew must race to rescue the Montana before a foreign submarine reaches it. But that is the least of their worries, for the sailors are not alone on the submarine – something that once devastated the entire world has unknowingly been set free by the crew.

Parker’s The Bridge” by Robert Knott, “Ghost Wanted” by Caroline Hart, “Closer to Home” by Mercedes Lackey, “Hope To Die” by James Patterson, “Blood Magick” by Nora Roberts, “Surprised By Love” by Julie Lessman and “Winds of Eden” by John Bradford Branney. “The Scorpio Races” by Maggie Stiefvater is among new YA novels now available.

Bob Odenkirk’s “A Load of Hooey: a Collection of New Short Humor Fiction” joins “One Nation: What We Can Do to Save America’s Future” by Ben Carson. M. D. in the new Non-Fiction section along with “13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do” by Amy Morin.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books, “Romeo Blue” by Phoebe Stone and “The Stinky Cheese Vacation” by Geronimo Stilton. A few new easy titles are “The Pirates Next Door” by Jonny Duddle, “Woolbur” by Leslie Helakoski and “The Little Moon Raven” by Marcus Pfister.
