Thank you to everyone who participated in the library foundation’s Krispy Kreme doughnut fundraiser. Funds raised go towards matching the challenge through the Wyoming Public Endowment Challenge and the Sweetwater County Library System Foundation, the balance to meet the challenge is $30,083.37.

The foundation has launched a fundraiser with Doublegood Popcorn! This popcorn is handcrafted in small batches and full of big flavor and three flavors are available: Caramel-Diem, Paint It Milk Chocolate and White Cheddar Go Getter. The gourmet popcorn ranges in price from $18 to $22 and is guaranteed to be delicious. Quantities are available at the library.

The library summer reading program begins the last week of May. Bring your children in to sign up for the “Hey Kids! – A Universe of Stories” summer reading program. The reading program is goal-driven and children choose the amount of library books, chapters or pages they can read in one week. Each time that goal is met twice they’ll receive a certificate for either swimming at the Tiger Plunge or ice cream from the Outpost Café. Stop in the library soon with your children to set goals, check out library books and start reading! At the end of the summer, children who have completed their reading goals each week will be eligible for larger prizes.

Also this summer LegoTime will be held each Tuesday at 1 p.m., Crafts & Activities will be featured on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and Movies will be shown on Thursdays at 1 p.m. – all beginning the week of May 28.

“American Duchess: a novel of Consuelo Vanderbilt” is Karen Harper’s newest book. In November of 1895 Consuelo married the 9th Duke of Marlborough. A deal had been made – Vanderbilt money for a title and prestige. The marriage is a sham, but Consuelo finds an inner strength, charming everyone as she fights for women’s rights – and her own independence.

Other new fiction books are “Silent Night” by Danielle Steel, “When You Are Near” by Tracie Peterson, “The Perfect Alibi” by Phillip Margolin, “Toxic Game” by Christine Feehan, “A Borrowed Dream” by Amanda Cabot, “Descent” by Tim Johnston, “The Island of Sea Women” by Lisa See, “Springtime At Hope Cottage” by Annie Rains and “Die By the Gun” by William W. Johnstone. David Baldacci’s newest addition to his YA Vega Jane series is “The Stars Below” also available is “Honor Bound” by Rachel Caine.

New non-fiction titles are “Underground: a Human History of the Worlds Beneath Our Feet” by Will Hunt, “The Trial of Lizzie Borden: a True Story” by Cara Robertson and “Thrive in Retirement: Simple Secrets For Being Happy For the Rest of Your Life” by Eric Thurman.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has a new chapter book series, “Mission Alert” by Benjamin Hulme-Cross with titles like “Grayfields” and “Island X.” Other new junior books include “Lock Up Lying” by Kayla Peterson, and “Our Principle’s in His Underwear” by Stephanie Calmenson. Newer picture books are “A Big Mooncake for Little Star” by Grace Lin, “Monkey on the Run” by Leo Timmers and “How to Catch a Unicorn” by Adam Wallace.

“Memorial Day!” is the theme for Storyhour on May 21, 2019. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year!

Library card holders also have access to a database of blank and completed legal forms that are professionally created, Wyoming-specific and continually updated. This resource is provided by the Niobrara County Library Foundation. Your library card number and PIN will give you access to all of the resources available.

Library hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Wednesday 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Stop in soon.
