Wednesday, June 26 the library has two programs planned. At 1:30 p.m. Dino O’Dell will present a live musical performance that also includes some storytelling. This is Friends of the Library program is sure to be “Out of This World!” At 6 p.m. LaGrange native and author, Doug Chamberlain will share information about his thirteen months in Vietnam and his upcoming book, “Bury Him.” Be sure to put both of these programs on your calendar!

Congratulations to Jason Avilez for winning Best of Show in the library’s first Art Show – celebrating 100 years of Libraries and/or 1919. Stop in the library and view Avilez’s entry along with the entries from artists: Dalton Larson, Lisa Shaw and Hailey Bruegger.

“Freefall” is the title of a novel by new author Jessica Barry. When her fiancé’s private plane crashes in the Colorado Rocky Mountains Allison Carpenter survives, but the fight for her life is just beginning. She knows a terrible secret that powerful men will kill to keep buried. Her mother, Maggie, also harbors a shameless secret. As Allison struggles across the treacherous mountains, Maggie embarks on a desperate search for her daughter as well as answers to her own problems – but will the truth save them?

Jance, “Run Away” by Harlan Coben, “In Her Sights” by Katie Ruggle, “The Tinderbox” by Beverly Lewis, “King of Kings” by Wilbur Smith, “The Patient One” by Shelley Shepard Gray, The Tale Teller” by Anne Hillerman and “The Eighth Sister” by Robert Dugoni. New titles available in the young adult section include “The Last Voyage of Poe Blythe” by Allyson Condie and “All For One” by Melissa de la Cruz.

“The Last Job: The “Bad Grandpas” and the Hatton Garden Heist” by Dan Dilefsky joins these new nonfiction books: “American Spirit: Profiles in Resilience, Courage, and Faith” by Taya Kyle and “Run the Mile You’re In: Finding God in Every Step” by Ryan Hall.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior books “The Book of Boy” by Catherine Gilbert Murdock, “The Night Diary” by Veera Hiranandani and “Because Of the Rabbit” by Cynthia Lord. A few of the newer easy titles include “Swarm of Bees” by Lemony Snicket, “Vacation for Dexter!” by Lindsay Ward, “Another” by Christian Robinson and “Yasmin in Charge” by Saadia Faruqi.

“Rocket to the Moon!” is the theme for Storyhour on June 25, 2019. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year. The Friends of the Library sponsor Dial-A-Story; call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story.
