“Chronicles of a Radical Hag (with recipes)” is a new novel by Lorna Landvik. When a beloved columnist suffers a massive stroke her publisher, Susan McGarth tries to fill the void with Haze Evens’ past columns, along with occasional reprinted responses from readers. Most of the letters were favorable but there was one man who had dubbed Haze’s “liberal” ideas the “chronicles of a radical hag.” Haze had chosen to mollify her critics with homey recipes – believing that buttery almond crescents would certainly “melt away and misdirect anger.”
