“Tom and Jerry, the Movie” will be showing at the library on Thursday, June 10 at 1p.m. The library provides the popcorn; please bring your own drink. The movie is rated PG and 101 minutes. “Raya and the Last Dragon” will be presented on Thursday, June 17.

The Friends of the Library are preparing for their annual Book Sale and Ice Cream Social to be held on Saturday, June 26. The book sale begins at 8 a.m. on the south library lawn and the ice cream social begins at 11 a.m. on the north library lawn, both events end at 2 p.m. Proceeds from this fundraiser help to provide library programming throughout the year. If you have books you would like to donate to this good cause, drop them by the library during open hours.

Rhys Bowen’s newest novel is entitled “The Venice Sketchbook.” Caroline Grant is struggling to accept the end of her marriage when she receives an unexpected bequest. Her beloved great-aunt Lettie leaves her a sketchbook, 3 keys, and a final whisper “Venice.” Caroline’s quest: to scatter Juliet “Lettie” Browning’s ashes in the city she loved and to unlock the mysteries stored away for more than 60 years.

Other new fiction books are “The Palm Beach Murders” by James Patterson, “The Last Bookshop in London” by Madeline Martin, “Shotgun Wedding” by William W. Johnstone, “The Good Sister” by Sally Hepworth, “Strongheart” by Jim Fergus, “Stargazer” by Anne Hillerman, “Fast Ice” by Clive Cussler and “A Picture of Love” by Beth Wiseman. A new young adult book is “Real” by Carol Cujec.

New non-fiction books are “Targeted: a Deputy, Her Love Affairs, a Brutal Murder” by M. William Phelps, “The Girl Explorers: the Untold Story of the Globetrotting Women Who Trekked, Flew, and Fought Their Way Around the World” by Jayne Zanglein and “Stampede: Gold Fever and Disaster in the Klondike” by Brian Castner.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles “Hilo: Gina, the Girl Who Broke the World” by Judd Winik, “Blue, Barry, & Pancakes” by Dan & Jason, “Dog Man: Mothering Heights” by Dav Pilkey. Some of the newer easy books are “The Power of Yet” by Maryann Cocca-Leffler, “The Lady of the Library” by Angie Karcher, “My Little Brave Girl” by Hilary Duff and “Parents’ Day Surprise” by Kimberly Dean.

“Happy Father’s Day” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.  Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays throughout the year. Children enjoy stories, activities and crafts as well as socializing with peers. The Friends of the Library sponsor the 24/7 storyline, Dial-A-Story – call 307-334-3274 anytime.
