The Friends of the Library will be hosting their annual Homemade Christmas Cookie & Candy Sale along with Homemade Soups and Breads on Wednesday, December 6 at 3 p.m. at the library. Attendees can choose cookies and candy that are sold by the pound or from pre-made plates. A variety of homemade soups and breads will also be available. Proceeds help fund Friends of the Library activities throughout the year, including RIF (Reading is FUN), Hey Kids Summer Reading Program, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Dial-A-Story and more! Be sure to stop by!

Call the library at 307-334-3490 to sign up for Paint @ the Library on Wednesday, December 13! The project features a winter outdoors scene and is held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Library programs are free and open to the public.

The library is getting new shelving! The main floor exterior wall shelving has been collapsing, so it is time for a more durable product. The library will close at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 15 and remain closed until December 26. Patrons are encouraged to ‘stock-up’ prior to December 15! A new Christmas novel by Susan Wiggs is “The Twelve Dogs of Christmas.” Not in the mood for the holidays, divorcee Brenda Malloy has arranged the transport of rescue dogs from Houston, Texas to Avalon, New York. Her friends are worried about her driving a van 2,000 miles with 12 dogs in crates – but how hard can it be! New non-fiction books are “Macrame Christmas: 25 Festive Projects Using Easy Knitting Techniques” by Isabella Stambio and “Dinner’s Ready: 112 Fast and Fabulous Recipes for Slightly Impatient Home Cooks” by Ree Drummond.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “The Bad Guys: a Very Bad Holiday” by Aaron Blabey, “Haru, Zombie Dog Hero” by Ellen Oh and “Big Nate: Move It or Lose It!” by Lincoln Peirce. New picture books are “Merry Whatmas” by Eion McLaughlin, “How to Catch Santa Claus” by Alice Walstead, “Where Do Diggers Celebrate Christmas” by Brianna Caplan Sayres, “Memo and the Unexpected Gift” by Funda Ozlem Seran and “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Sleigh” by Mo Willems.

“Gingerbread Man!” is the theme for Storyhour on December 5, 2023. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays throughout the year and is suitable for preschool-aged children. Dial 307-334-3274 for Dial-A-Story! Available 24/7 and sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
