The library will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026 for Memorial Day. Regular hours resume on Tuesday 10 a.m.

If you haven’t registered for Summer Reading there is still time! This is a goal-based program and continues until Friday, July 31. Each time your goal is met twice you’ll receive a certificate, stop by to sign up and find out more!

Beginning Tuesday, May 26 the library will host weekly programs for all ages throughout the summer. The programs include Legos on Tuesday at 1 p.m. followed by Read with Delilah or ‘The Kids’ at 2 p.m. Summer Crafts will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. through June, call the library at 307-334-3490 to register. Thursday will feature movies at 1 p.m. – the library provides the popcorn, please bring your own drink. Storyhour continues on Tuesday at 10 a.m. and beginning on Wednesday, June 3 Toddler Time will be held from 10:30-11 a.m. for children up to 36-months through August 12.

The library is fortunate to host many top-notch live performers throughout the summer. The first performer is Jeff Quinn on Monday, June 1 at 4:30 p.m. “Jurassic Magic” is a fun-filled show that uses dinosaur routines and imagery. There will be lots of audience participation, family-friendly humor and… someone is going to win their very own inflatable dinosaur! 

“Riding the White Horse Home” by Teresa Jordan is available for the “Read & Feed” discussion on Monday, June 8.

Call the library to register for Paint @ the Library on Wednesday, June 10 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. An Americana flag is planned.

A new title available is “The Ascent” by Adam Plantinga. “The Ascent” kicks off Plantinga’s fiction series featuring Kurt Argento. Argento is an ex-Detroit street cop who can’t let injustice go. When he tries to rescue a girl in a small corrupt Missouri town, he is brutally beaten and thrown into a maximum prison. Then on the day that the Governor’s daughter, Julie, is touring the facility, a malfunction in the security system releases a horde of prisoners. Kurt must try to get the staff, Julie, and other civilians from the bottom floor to the to the roof and safety through six floors of the most dangerous convicts in Missouri. “The Ascent” is available digitally in Libby.

Other new fiction books are “All the Missing Pieces” by Catherine Cowles, “Track of Courage” by Susan May Warren, “A Moment of Love” by Tracie Peterson, “The Desperate Riders” by Lee Martin, “The Last Mrs. Parrish” by Liv Constantine, “The Final Storm” by Fern Michaels and “Echoes of Sunrise” by Amanda Cabot. “In My Own Way” by Kathy Buchanan is now available in the young adult section.

Among the newer non-fiction books are “Western Star: the Life and Legends of Larry McMurtry” by David Streitfeld and “Joyful Anyway” by Kate Bowler.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles “Faith in the Flames” by Marianne Hering, “Ape Escape” by Stuart Gibbs, and “Big Nate: Code Red” by Lincoln Peirce. New easy books are “It Takes a family to Serve” by Lisa Wheeler, “Nani and the Lion” by Alicia D. Williams, “The Littlest Elephant: a One and Only Ruby Story” by Katherine Applegate, and “Elvis & Romeo Go to Dog School” by David Soman.

“Cinderella!” is the theme for Storyhour on May 26, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. The Friends of the Library sponsor the 24/7 storyline, Dial-A-Story. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
