Beginning Wednesday, June 3 the library will host “Toddler Time” from 10:30-11 a.m. weekly through August 12. Miss Tina has a variety of stories and activities suitable for children 36-months and younger. Be sure to stop by! Storyhour is also held on Tuesdays from 10-11 a.m. with thematic stories, crafts and activities year-round.

Magician Jeff Quinn will present “Jurassic Magic” at the library on Monday, June 1 at 4:30 p.m. His magic is sure to entertain the whole family!

Historian Nancy Tabb will present “The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Sides of Sheriff Frank Canton” on Wednesday, June 3 at 6 p.m. Frank Canton was the sheriff of Johnson County before the Invasion of the Johnson County Cattle War and most agree he was a very good sheriff – however, maybe that wasn’t entirely the case.

If you haven’t registered for summer reading be sure to stop in! The program continues through July 31.

An Americana scene is planned for Paint @ the Library on Wednesday, June 10. Call the library to secure your spot, 307-334-3490. The session is held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Children under 10 should be accompanied by an adult.

This summer the library is pleased to present two Senior Planet workshops! “Getting to Know Your Android Smartphone” will be held on Monday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. followed by “Getting to Know Your iPhone” at 1 p.m. The workshops focus on features that most phones have so be sure to bring your device with you. Call to reserve your place.

Oprah’s latest book club novel is “Kin” by Tayari Jones. Vernice and Annie, two motherless girls, have been friends since early childhood but are fated to live starkly different lives. Vernice goes to college where she joins a sisterhood of powerfully connected black women and discovers a world of affluence, manners, and aspiration. Annie, fixated on finding the mother who abandoned her, sets off on a journey that will take her into a world of peril and adversity as well as love and adventure culminating in a battle for her life. “Kin” is also available in Libby.

Other new fiction books are “The Nantucket Inn” by Pamela Kelley, “A Wager with the Matchmaker” by Jody Hedlund, “All My Secrets” by Lynn Austin, “The Last Ride of the Dirty Creek Gang” by William W. Johnstone, “Mists Over the Channel Islands” by Sarah Sundin, “The Beginner’s Quilt” by Wanda E. Brunstetter and “Whispers in the Valley” by Amanda Cabot. A new young adult novel is “Release Me” by Tahereh Mafi.

Among the newer non-fiction books are “The History of Sled Dogs in North America from the Bering Sea to the Atlantic Ocean” by Helen Hegener and “United States Paper Money Errors” by Dr. Frederick Bart.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “The Hunt for the Kraken” by Kathryn Butler and “You & Me and the Peanut Butter Beast” by Andy Griffiths. New picture books are “A Perfect Day for Digging” by Cari Best, “How Do Dinosaurs Go From A-Z?” by Jane Yolen, “Big Bub, Small Hat” by Alastair Heim and “Across the USA with the Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle.

“Sunny Fun” is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays throughout the year for preschool-aged children. The Friends of the Library sponsor the 24/7 storyline, Dial-A-Story. Call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
