Have you checked out the library’s Storywalk®? This is a fun way for you and your children to enjoy a story and for the library to provide a literacy opportunity. Begin the story on the west sidewalk and follow through the 12 pedestals until you reach the end. Stories are changed periodically. “The Librarian Spy” is the latest novel by Madeline Martin. It was inspired by the true history of America’s librarian spies of World War II. Ava, a librarian at the Library of Congress, received an unexpected offer from the U.S. Military that took her to Lisbon posing as a librarian while working undercover as a spy. Meanwhile in France, Elaine is operating a printing press run by members of the Resistance that the Nazis are hunting. “And There Was Light: Abraham Lincoln and the American Struggle” by Jon Meacham is among new non-fiction books along with “Capturing the Younger Brothers Gang in the Northern Plains: the Untold Story of a Heroic Teen Asle Sorbel” by Arley Kenneth Fadness and “The 6 Phase Meditation Method” by Vishen Lakhiani.
The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles “Empty Smiles” by Katherine Arden and “Sparrows in the Wind” by Gail Carson Levine. Among the newer easy books are “The 12 Days After Christmas” by Deborah Knopf, “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Spoon” by Lucille Colandro, “Don’t Push the Button: a Christmas Adventure” by Bill Cotter, “The Christmas Book Flood” by Emily Kilgore and “Snow Horses: a First Night Story” by Patricia MacLachlan.
“Christmas Wreath!” with a special visitor is the theme for Storyhour on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for children age 3 through kindergarten. The Friends of the Library sponsor Dial-A-Story number, call 307-334-3274 anytime to hear a recorded story!
