The first of three Paint @ the Library programs will be held on Wednesday, June 10 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Call the library to register at 307-334-3490. Subsequent dates are Wednesday, July 8 and Wednesday, August 12. Children under the age of 10 should be accompanied by an adult.

Learn about the “Dinosaurs of Niobrara County” with Marcus Eriksen on Friday, June 12 at 1 p.m.  Plan to see and touch a variety of real-life bones and learn about the dinosaurs who have roamed our county.

This summer the library is pleased to present two Senior Planet workshops! “Getting to Know Your Android Smartphone” will be held on Monday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. followed by “Getting to Know Your iPhone” at 1 p.m. The workshops focus on features that most phones have so be sure to bring your device with you. This hands-on workshop will also cover some best practices for securing and maintaining your device. Senior Planet is a volunteer organization through AARP. Attendees do not have to be over 50 to attend. Call the library at 307-334-3490 to register!

Performer “Mr. Kneel” is unearthing lots of stories with his “Can You Dig It?” program.  Plan for loads of fun sharing songs, rhyming words, and beatboxing with Mr. Kneel on Tuesday, June 16 at 1 p.m.

A new novel is “Parents Weekend” by Alex Finlay. In the glow of their children’s exciting first year of college at a small private school, five families gather for a Parents Weekend. When their children don’t show up, they think they have forgotten or decided to do something else, but after two nights without a word from any of them, panic sets in. Search parties are formed, reporters swarm in, rumors swirl, questions arise. What has happened to these five students? “Parents Weekend” is also available in Libby.

Other new fiction books are “Reasonable Suspicion” by James Chandler, “The Next Mrs. Parrish” by Liv Constantine, “Marrying the Matchmaker” by Jody Hedlund, “Revenge Prey” by John Sandford, “Family Lies” by Karen Rose, “Rites of the Starling” by Devney Perry, “Sierra Massacre” by Todhunter Ballard, plus the series “Starlight Grove” by Catherine Cowles. Marissa Meyer’s “The Escape Game” is among new young adult books.

Among the newer non-fiction books are “The Westerners: Myth Making and Belonging on the American Frontier” by Megan Kate Nelson and “Waiting for the Dawn: Living with Uncertainty” by Marisa Renee Lee.

The Lenna Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new chapter books “The Fantastic Freeze Ray” by Kailei Pew and “The Rifle” by Gary Paulsen. Newer picture books are “Judgy Bunny and the Terrible Beach” by Scott Rothman, “Elvis & Romeo Visit the Vet” by David Soman, “Curious George Field Day” created by H. A. Rey, “Grumpy Monkey, Father’s Day Fuss” by Suzanne Lang and “Dinosaur Snores!” by Peter Curtis.

“Ice Cream Cone” is the theme for Storyhour on June 9, 2026. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year for preschool-aged children. “Counting Puppies” is the theme for Little Reader’s Toddler Time on Wednesday, June 10 from 10:30-11 a.m.
