Wednesday, March 20 the second of three Reading Is Fun programs will be held at the library. A skit based on the book, “Jumanji” by Chris Van Allsburg will be presented by FBLA students. Crafts and snacks as well as the opportunity for each child to select their very own book will also be a part of the hour-long program which is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Monday, March 25 the film, “Babel” will be shown at the library at 6 p.m. This showing is part of the “Dinner and Movie” series featuring the Human Experience. “Babel” reveals how we truly aren’t all that different through four interlocking stories that are all connected by a single gun. A light meal will be served and Deane Tucker will facilitate discussion which will include participants at WWC.
A new novel by Alex Berenson is “The Night Ranger.” Four friends, recent college graduates from Montana, travel to Kenya to work at a giant refugee camp. After 12 weeks, they are ready for a break and they pile into a Land Cruiser for an African adventure. They get more than they bargained for when they are hijacked by bandits. Back home the story of the kidnapping takes over the media. John Wells is sent to find them, but he discovers that the truth behind the kidnappings is far more complex than imagined. Meanwhile the White House is on the verge of ordering an invasion of Somalia. This book is also available for audio download through OneClick Digital.
“Until the End of Time” by Danielle Steel is among new fiction titles. Also available are: “The Autumn Bride” by Anne Gracie, “Blood Money” by James Grippando, “The Sixth Station” by Linda Stasi, “Touch & Go” by Lisa Gardner, “Proof of Guilt” by Charles Todd, “Just Kate” by Linda Lael Miller and “Fifth Assassin” by Brad Metlzer. New on the YA shelf is Cynthia Hand’s newest, “Boundless.”
New non-fiction books are “Keeping Bees in Towns and Cities” by Luke Dixon and “The Secret Race: Inside the Hidden World of the Tour de France: Doping, Cover-ups, and Winning at All Costs” by Tyler Hamilton.
The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children’s Library has these new junior titles “Anya, the Cuddly Creatures Fairy” by Daisy Meadows, “Strangers on a Train” by Carolyn Keene and “Amelia Bedelia Unleashed” by Herman Parish. A couple of new picture books are “Watch Out, Monsters About” by Simon Beecroft and “Marley and the Great Easter Egg Hunt” by John Grogan.
