Mrs. Emma DeKay Long Resident Here, Dies Thurs.

Mrs. Emma DeKay, resident of this area since 1906, died at the age of 85 at her home in Harrison last Thursday.

She was the daughter of Thomas Finneran and Emily Curtis, born April 11, 1875 in Crawford County, Ia. She was married September 6, 1899 to Edward DeKay in Cherokee, Ia. The family moved to South Dakota where they lived for seven years before moving to a ranch nine miles southeast of Harrison. Since 1929 Mrs. DeKay has lived in Harrison.

Mrs. DeKay received Christian baptism as a child. She was a member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church.

Surviving are her five children; Mrs. Irene Pfeiffer of Scottsbluff, Edward and Leslie DeKay and Mrs. LaVerne Brewster of Harrison, and Mrs. Berniece McKelvey of Casper. There are 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. Victor Ireland officiating, and burial was in the Harrison Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons and husbands of granddaughters; Robert Yates, Sioux City; Wayne Roads, Casper; Ed Pfeiffer, Lovell; and Ronald McKelvey, Donald McKelvey, and Kenneth Taylor of this vicinity.
