Area Rancher

Long time area rancher Albert E. Glasby, 70, died at his Lusk home Monday, and the funeral was conducted this Wednesday morning at 10:00 at the Peet Mortuary Chapel.

Albert Glasby was born at Burdock, S.D., April 10, 1905, the son of William and Clara Cooksey Glasby.

He homesteaded on Alkali Creek in 1934 and in the early years worked on various ranches until he went into partnership with the late Ray Harris in the fall of 1940.

He and Florence Bedell were married on June 29, 1940 at Gordon, Neb. They purchased the Otto Hitchcock ranch in 1943. He played in a dance band with Jim and Harriet Thompson for several years. In 1971 Mr. Glasby retired and they moved to Lusk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his widow, Florence, a twin sister, Alberta Glasby of Newcastle and another sister Gladys Glasby of Sheridan, two brothers, Bill and Norman of Newcastle, two nieces, Norma Waitz of Denver and Beth Lolley of Edgemont; three nephews, Chuck Simmons of Edgemont, Bill Glasby of Cranberry, N. J. and Rex Glasby of San Jose, Calif.; one aunt Irene Cooksey of the Cheyenne River area.
