Graydon "Bud" E. Hoblit
Services for Graydon E. "Bud" Hoblit were held at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk, April 15.
Officiating was Rev. Sam Hendricks with music by Edna DeCastro, organist and Mark Lohr sang "Sunrise" and "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus".
Active bearers were Raymond Edwards, Rex Shoults, Monty Edwards, Herb Klindt, Gene Coleman and Venus Kilmer.
Graydon E. "Bud" Hoblit was born August 22, 1913, in Brocksburg, Neb., the son of Melvin and Mary Hoblit. He grew up there attending grade school in Brocksburg and then attending High School in Springview, Neb.
He enlisted in the C.C.C. Camp in 1936 and was located in the Black Hills of South Dakota area. In 1937 he moved to Montana where he was employed in the construction of the Ft. Peck Dam.
He came to Wyoming in 1938 where he began work in the Lance Creek oil field. He later worked in the Meat Market for Cecil Stark. It was then that he met and married Mary Roberts on Nov. 18, 1939, in the First Baptist Church of Lusk.
They purchased Bud's Hamburger Shop from Frank Wilson in 1940 which they operated until 1943 when they sold it and moved to Casper where he worked for Wind Charger Company. He later went back to work in the oil fields in and around Casper. He returned to the Lance Creek field in 1946. In 1948 he began work at the C and H Refinery where he was employed until the Refinery closed on June 15, 1983.
He was a 30 year veteran of the Lusk Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter, Darci Zimmer of Riverton.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hoblit of Lusk; four daughters, Peggy Zimmer of Riverton, Linda Powell of Casper, Jan Hytrek of Lusk and Vicky McGee of Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Geraldine Smith of Lusk; two sister-in-laws, Annabelle Hoblit of Lusk and Tory Hoblit of Martin, S. Dak.; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Memorials may be sent to Niobrara Hospital Auxiliary for the Nursing Scholarship Program.
Peet Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
