Donabelle Lorraine Hollon

Donabelle passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Dec. 15, 2013 in Laramie, Wyoming.

She was born on Feb. 24, 1921 in Springview, Keya Paha, Nebraska. Donabelle was the only child of James Donald and Emma Wagner Hoblit. Her early years were spent in the oil field tent towns of Lavoye & Lance Creek, Wyoming. In 1933, she moved with her folks to Lusk where her father, Jim Hoblit became a partner in the C. & H. Refinery. Donabelle graduated from Lusk High School with the Class of 1938 and in 1940 from Colorado Women's College in Denver, Colorado. She married Clifford Eugene "Jerry" Hollon on Jan. 22, 1944 in Denver, Colorado from this union four children were born, Jim, Heidi, John and Holli.

Upon her father's death, Donabelle became the part-owner of the C.& H. Refinery. Until 1975 Donabelle could be found keeping the books at the C & H Refinery and the Frontier Lumber Company which was owned by her husband, Jerry and his brother, Ed Hollon.

Donabelle and Jerry made their home in Lusk until 1974 but departed to Laramie, Wyoming where Jerry was asked to create the University of Wyoming's Foundation.

Donabelle's loyalty to Niobrara County never wavered. She held the WY 14-44 license until the time of her death. She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Laramie and the Congregational Church in Lusk, Donabelle was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and she enjoyed 72 years in the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She donated years of service to the American Red Cross in Niobrara County. She often spoke of the "Dirty Dozen" from her early years in Lusk. She continued to rally the Class of 1938 for many reunions, as she was Class President. Donabelle's past-times included playing bridge, following Wyoming Cowboys sports and the Colorado Rockies.

She is preceded in death by her parents, numerous aunts and uncles, her husband, Jerry and infant son John Jeffrey. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James Duff and Jane Hollon of Laramie, daughters and son-in-laws, Heidi and John Schutterle of Laramie and Holli and Russell Spencer of Castle Rock, Colorado. Also surviving Donabelle are one grand-son Rob and Kacee Schutterle of Laramie, five grand-daughters, Annie Hollon of Boston, Massachusetts, Amy Hollon of Laramie, Emily and Aaron Otten of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Alison and Daniel Gibson of Vacaville, California and Tara and Mark Day of Laramie, four great-grandsons, Brendon, Michael, Robert and Owen. and three great-granddaughters Kayla, Emma and Wendy. Donabelle is also survived by her aunt Mary Hoblit of Lusk and her uncle James B. Smith of Valley Center, California, cousins Marvin, Jay, Peggy, Linda, Jan, Vickie, Francy, Rhonda and Mickey and sister-in-law, Margory Hollon of Douglas, WY.

A memorial service is will be held at 1 p.m. on Fri., Dec. 27 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 602 E. Garfield St. in Laramie with Pastor Jamie Kepros officiating. A graveside service for Donabelle and C.E. "Jerry" will be scheduled during the summer of 2014 at the Lusk cemetery.

Memorials can be made to UW Thunder Marching Band c/o University of Wyoming Foundation, 1200 E. Ivinson, Laramie, WY 82070 and PEO Chapters in Laramie and Lusk.

Clifford "Jerry" and Donnabelle Hoblit Hollon

Graveside services for Clifford "Jerry" and Donnabelle Hoblit Hollon will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sat., June 28, 2014 at Lusk Cemetery, with Pastor Mark Lohr officiating.

Jerry Hollon, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2009, in Laramie, Wyoming, after a short illness.

A memorial service was held Friday, March 6, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Laramie.

He was born on May 2, 1920 in Lusk, Wyoming. Jerry was the eldest son of Duff and Emma Giedd Hollon of Lusk, Wyoming. He graduated from Lusk High School, with the Class of 1938.

He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1942, with a Degree in Geology and was a member of the SAE fraternity.

Jerry was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division, stationed at Camp Hale, Colorado. He was later deployed to Japan and served in the Ski Troops. Jerry retired as a Major in the US Army in 1946.

Jerry and Donabelle were married on January 22, 1944, in Denver, Colorado, from this union four children were born, Jim, Heidi, John and Holli.

Donabelle passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Dec. 15, 2013 in Laramie, Wyoming.

A memorial service was held Dec. 27, 2013 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
