Marjorie Lucille Hollon passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas.

Marge was born Thursday, October 25, 1928, in Edgemont, South Dakota to Everett Minus and Ida Alice (Sedgewick) Smith. She spent her early childhood on a ranch near the Cheyenne River in northern Niobrara County. When she was ten years old, after her parents divorced, Marge, her mother, Ida; her sisters, Dorothy and Joan; and brother, Raymond, moved to Lusk.

Marge graduated from Lusk High School in 1947, where Marge and her friends, Shirley Lincoln and Shirley Blackmore, referred to themselves as the “fun girls”. Stories of a simpler time would suggest they did have a lot of fun.

Marge married Edmund “Ed” Duff Hollon on October 28, 1947. Marge and Ed have three sons, Ward (1948), Rick (1952) and Blake (1954). The family lived in Lusk (except for one year in Edgemont) until moving to Douglas in 1963.

Ed and Marge owned and operated Florence Lumber (in partnership with Ed’s brother, Jerry), Western Contractors, and Athletic Surfacing International (with son Blake). Ed and Marge were also, the developers of Frontier Village Subdivision in Douglas.

In addition to being the bookkeeper for these companies, through the years Marge was a Cub Scout den mother, a recreational golfer in Lusk and Douglas, an avid bridge player, and involved in all her sons’ activities. Some summers the number of boys in Marge’s home increased from three to five, when nephews R.D. Leeling and Ken Harrington came for the summer to live with them and work for their Uncle Ed. Though chaotic at times, Marge loved having them.

For many years Marge was a dedicated officer and President of the Eastern Converse County Unit of the American Cancer Society. She was instrumental in establishing the “Road to Recovery,” “Jail and Bail,” and “Relay for Life” in Douglas.

Marge was also a longtime member and officer in the Douglas Civic Club, a chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. Again, being instrumental in the “Community Calendar”, the Center Street flower planters in downtown Douglas, and providing a special Christmas for a family in Douglas each year.

Family and holidays were extremely important to Marge. She made the Christmas holidays very special for family, friends, and others. We will all miss her “goody boxes” full of homemade candy, cookies, breads, and other “treats”. Her “Tom and Jerry” batter was also more than special.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed on July 27, 2011; sister, Dorothy “Taf” Leeling; brother, Raymond Smith; brothers-in-law, Jerry Hollon, Harold “Hal” Harrington, and Roy D. Leeling; and sister-in-law, Donnabelle Hollon.

Marge is survived by sons, Ward Hollon of Tempe, Arizona, Rick (Anita) Hollon of Douglas, and Blake (Susan) Hollon of Douglas; grandchildren, Dustin Hollon of Phoenix, Arizona, Tyler (Erin) Hollon of Ogden, Utah, and Jessica (Justin) McGuire of Douglas; great-grandsons, Mac Hollon of Ogden and Kacen and Luca McGuire of Douglas; great-granddaughter Ruby Hollon of Ogden; sister, Joan Harrington of Sheridan, Wyoming; brother, Earl (Joyce) Smith of Douglas; sister-in-law, May (Raymond) Smith of Manville, Wyoming; and numerous nieces and nephews.

No services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be held next summer.

Memorials may be made to Youth Development Services of Douglas at 800 Jackson Street, Douglas, Wyoming 82633, The American Cancer Society, or a memorial of the donor’s choice.

Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
