James "Orval" Hoyt

Orval Hoyt died last Wednesday

The funeral for Orval Hoyt was Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Stark-Latham Funeral Chapel. He was a former Lance Creek resident. Hoyt died Wednesday at the Converse County Hospital in Douglas following a short illness.

Rev. Robert Norris of the Douglas Baptist Church officiated at the service. A trio sang "God Will Take Care of You" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer." Graveside services were held at the Lusk Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers were Irvin Skillings of Casper, Jim Skillings of Morton, Byron Rood of Powell, Harry Brown, Cliff Blaney of Lusk and Bob Blaney of Lance Creek.

Orval Hoyt was born Sept. 24, 1904 at Bonesteel, S.D. Following the death of his father when Orval was 15, he went to live with an uncle near Keeline. He went to work for the Marathon-Ohio- Oil Company of Lance Creek in February 1941 and retired after 26 years July 1, 1967. He was married to Mae Blaney March 8, 1941 by Judge Wilhermsdorfer in Harrison, Neb. The couple and their daughter Dixie made their home in Lance Creek until his retirement. They moved to Douglas in June 1967 where they have since made their home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Donna and a sister.

He is survived by his wife Mae, of 409 South Fifth in Douglas; one daughter, Mrs. Winston (Dixie) Slider of Cheyenne; three grandchildren, Ambika, Tekla and Heather Slider, and one sister.
