Funeral services for Emmy Lou Huff, 79, were held July 19, 2003, at the Gorman Funeral Home-Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyo., with Pastor Gary Walker officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Emmy Lou Huff died July 15, 2003, at the Clara Lou Chapman Hospice Home in Casper, Wyo.

Emmy Lou was born Jan. 1, 1924, in Lost Springs, Wyo., the daughter of William F. and Estelle (Runser) Kant. She was reared in Lost Springs and attended school at Lost Springs and Shawnee, Wyo.

During World War II, she operated the Community Store and Post Office at Lost Springs, while her brothers Walter and Billy were in the service. After the Armistice, Walter and Emmy Lou purchased Roy Lee's Grocery and Locker Plant at Lance Creek, which was a bustling community and the largest oil producing area in the state.

In 1950, Emmy Lou purchased Walter's interest, and in the same year she was married to Ray Austin of Greeley, Colo. Ray died July 21, 1971.

On March 3, 1973, Emmy Lou married Robert L. Huff of Painesville, Ohio, in Lance Creek. Emmy and Robert continued to operate the K & K Market until late 1981. In 1984, the couple moved to Douglas to retire and enjoy the convenience of town living. Robert died Nov. 8, 1996, following a lengthy illness.

Emmy Lou is survived by one sister, Pauline Werdin of Germantown, Md., and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; one sister, Edith Delahunty; and three brothers, Walter, Richard and William Kant.

Serving as pallbearers were Steve Kant, Brad Kant, Mike Kant, Jr., Jack Hammond, Marshall Kant, Bob Kook, Ralph Aab and Scott Burback.

A memorial to the Clara Lou Chapman Hospice Home, 319 South Wilson Street, Casper, WY 82601, would be appreciated by the family.

Gorman Funeral Home-Converse Chapel of Douglas was in charge of arrangements.
