Mrs. Henry Amend of Keeline Dies

Mrs. Anna Amend, wife of Henry Amend, Sr., of Keeline passed away at the Spencer hospital in Lusk on Monday afternoon, April 7th, from cerebral thrombosis, after an illness of only five days.

Mrs. Amend was 67 years of age, a woman held in high esteem in the community where she had made her home for 39 years.

Born in Russia in 1880 she came to this country as a girl of seventeen. In 1900 she was married to Henry Amend and in 1908 they came to Wyoming and settled at Keeline where they have since resided.

Besides her husband she is survived by six children, three daughters and three sons. They are Mrs. Katy Skillings, Mrs. Marie Cox, John Amend and Fred Amend all of Lance Creek, Henry Amend, Jr., of Lost Springs and Mrs. Emma Gaukel of Idaho.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Peet Chapel on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. F. C. Doctor, pastor of St. Paul Ev. Church officiating.

Amend last Rites Are Held Thursday

Many friends paid tribute to Mrs. Anna Amend by attending the final rites held for her at the Peet Chapel on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. The Rev. F. C. Doctor, pastor of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church officiated at the service.

The songs "Asleep In Jesus" and "Heaven Is My Home" were sung by the Misses Phyllis Klemke, Geraldine Klemke, Phyllis Owens, Dorothy Humphreys, Donley Unruh, Oscar Bostrom, and Walter Doctor. Miss Minnie Frosheiser presided at the chapel organ.

The casket bearers were Alex Frosheiser, Roy Elkins, Peter Ketcher, George Mundschenk, Leo Heins, and Wilmer Baars. Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery.

Anna Katherine Gies, the fourth of eight children of Adam and Barbara Gies, was born in Walder, Russia on June 9, 1879.

She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in her infancy and was confirmed in 1893. In 1899 she came with her parents to Lincoln, Nebraska and on January 11, 1900 she was married to Henry Amend. They were the parents of six children, all of whom are living.

The family moved to Keeline, Wyo. in 1908 and have continued to make their home there until the present time.

Mrs. Amend died at the Spencer Hospital on April 7, after an illness of only five days, at the age of 67.

Surviving are her husband, Henry Amend; three daughters, Mrs. Katy Skillings and Mrs. Marie Cox of Lance Creek and Mrs. Emma Gaukel of Twin Falls, Idaho; and three sons, John and Fred Amend of Lance Creek, and Henry Amend Jr., of Lost Spring and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A brother, John Geis of Greeley, Colo., and a sister Mrs. C. P. Geisick, also of Greeley survive her.
