MRS. ELLA PFISTER IS LAID TO REST HERE SATURDAY

Mrs. Ella J. Arnold Pfister, resident of Niobrara County for years, died at home last Wednesday.

Again the dark angel has entered our community and given the password which permits of entrance into the beautiful beyond. The recipient this time was one of our beloved pioneers, Mrs. Ella Josephine Pfister, who died at her home near Node on Wednesday, April 7, 1926.

Mrs.Pfister had been suffering for a number of weeks following a paralytic stroke and, contracting influenza, was too weak to survive.

Funeral services, in charge of the A.E.S. Co. Undertaking establishment were held in the catholic church Saturday morning, April 9 at 10:00 o'clock with the Rev. Father Herman of Douglas officiating.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery.

Ella Josephine Arnold was born at Kansas City, Mo. November 11, 1861. At the age of fourteen years she moved with her mother to Junction City, Kansas. There on May 22, 1879 she was married to John Pfister, who lives to mourn her loss. To this union was born thirteen children: Mrs. Albert Olinger and Edwin of Hat Creek; John E. of Gillette, Wyo.; Richard, of Edgemont, S. Dak.; Mrs. Frances Anderson of Omaha, Nebr.;Mrs. Jane Joy, of Kaycee, Wyo.;and Valentine, William, Vincent, Ella and Anna of Lusk, Wyo. Leo and Arthur died in infancy. She also leaves to mourn her departure one brother, Edward M. Arnold, of Lusk; one half brother, Frank Lanquin of Salem, S. Dak.; and ten grand-children.

Mrs. Pfister came with her husband and four children to what was then Laramie County, Wyoming Territory, in 1884. They settled on a homestead nine miles West of Lusk. Five years later they moved to to the ranch which has since been their home, nine miles southeast of Lusk where she departed this life April 7, 1926.

She was ever active, bright and hopeful, meeting all of the privations incident to a life on a ranch in those pioneer days with a fortitude born of the courage of a loyal wife and devoted mother, cheerfully making any sacrifice that her children might receive the benefits of an education to fit them for useful and happy lives.

Her love of Wyoming was deep and sincere, her home was always open to her friends, and the weary traveler found a haven of rest there. She was a true christian, a life-long member of the Catholic church, and to know her was to love her.

Her many deeds and spirit are a continued guide and inspiration to those she leaves behind. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."

"Thirty Years Ago" - April 7, 1926

As we go to press word reaches us of the death of another pioneer resident, Mrs. John Pfister, who passed away at her home near Node, Wednesday morning. The Pfister family came to Wyoming Territory in 1884.
