Don Melvin Miller

Don Melvin Miller, 70, of Riverton died Friday, May 31, 1996 at Wind River Healthcare Center in Riverton.

Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, from the Davis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Duane Ayers of First Baptist Church officiating. Committal rites will be conducted at Mountain View Cemetery by Wind River Post 3629 Veteran of Foreign Wars.

He was born Nov. 23, 1925, at Lusk to Melvin and Ollie (Canfield) Miller. He attended schools in Hat Creek and Lusk.

He served in the Navy during World War II, from February 1944 to May 1946. After his discharge he worked in the oil fields as a roughneck, derrick man, and driller. In 1959, he went to work for Pathfinder Mines in the Lucky Mc Mill. He started as a laborer and worked up to general mill foreman, retiring in December 1986.

He married Melva Lee in May 1947. A daughter, Connie Lee Evans, was born to this union. While Don worked in the oil field, he met and married Elnora Schoenholtz in December 1950. Two sons, Jim and Ron, were born to this union.

His family says, "Don enjoyed fishing and camping and watching his grandsons play baseball and going to watch them in High School and college rodeos. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Eagles Lodge. He especially enjoyed seeing his grandson, Ryan, receive his Eagle Scout award."

Survivors include his wife Elnora, of Riverton; sons Jim of Cheyenne and Ron of Arizona; daughter Connie Evans of Utah; sisters, Cleo Green and Jean Mathews of Riverton, June Terrell of Douglas and Lila Stratton of Lance Creek; brother Jack Miller of Casper; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lloyd and grandson Brent.

Memorials to the High School Rodeo Association, in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main, Riverton, 82501, would be appreciated by the family.

Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.
