Paul Morgan

Paul Morgan, a resident of this community for over 50 years, died in the Niobrara Memorial Hospital Sunday, June 15, after a brief illness.

Morgan had been engaged in ranching before going to work here in the Kilmer creamery where he was employed for almost 25 years. He worked at the Sioux Service for several years before going to the Southside Truck Stop. He retired just over a year ago.

Paul Morgan was born October 10, 1913, at Colome, S.D., the second child of Hardy Wilson and Minnie McCleery Morgan. The family lived in eastern South Dakota where the father farmed and also worked in road construction. They came to Wyoming in March of 1927.

He was a charter member of the Future Farmers of America Chapter of Lusk High School. A member of the First Baptist Church, he served in many capacities. He was a member of the building committee when the present edifice was built.

On August 15, 1936, he and Ruth Elizabeth (Betty) Webb were married. The were the parents of three daughters, Mrs. Wm. H.(Kay) Smith of Cheyenne.; Mrs. Fletcher H. (Sandra) Bray of Fairfield, Ohio; and Mrs. Duane (Bonnie) Nelson of Lusk.

Funeral service was this Wednesday afternoon at Peet Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Kelly, officiating.

Minerva Watson was organist and Mark Lohr sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Under His Wings."

Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Everett Kilmer, Bud Allen, John Penfield, Hugo Lenz, Bud Owens and Archie Lauer.

Honorary bearers were Johnnie Thon, Venus Kilmer, Joe Andrews, Charles Christian, Brad Beane, Ed Lang, Martin Glandt, John Burke and Burt Kaper.

Survivors include his wife Betty of Lusk and their three daughters; sisters, Ardieth Mass of Casper and Lucille Erlewine of Lusk, brother Voyne C. "Bud" Morgan, Lusk; eight grandchildren, Brett Smith, Salt Lake City, Utah, David Smith, Mesa, Ariz., Bruce Smith, Cheyenne, Fletcher Bray Jr. and Dierdre Bray, Fairfield, Ohio, Ronald Nelson, Wheatland and Kent and Kim Nelson, Lusk.

A memoriam fund has been started at the Lusk State Bank to purchase an oxygen unit for home use.
