Services For Albert Olinger Held Sunday

Albert J. Olinger, who as a young man heeded the advice of Horace Greeley "Go west young man, go west" came to this section of Wyoming more than a half century ago, died at the Spencer Hospital Friday morning after being in failing health for some time.

Funeral services were conducted ay two o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Peet Mortuary by Rev. F. C. Doctor, who also was in charge of the commitment rite at the Lusk cemetery.

At the services Mrs. Carl Peterson and Mrs. Maude Bonner sang "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me." They were accompanied on the organ by Mrs. J. P. Watson.

The honorary casket bearers were: Z. B. Crinklaw, Albert DeGering, George Story, Max Heth, Carl Fritz, Claris David, and Dudley Fields. The active casket bearers were: Harry Wampler, Gaylord Anderson, Harry Lorenzen, Art Keller, Roger Percival and John Burke.

Friends and relatives attending the services from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Olinger and Jimmie of Cheyenne, Captain and Mrs. Percy Williams and Sharon of Fort Worth, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Olinger, Elmer and Paul Olinger of Tekamah, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. John Pfister of Sheridan; Mr. and Mrs. Robert McGee of Laramie; Richard Pfister, Edgemont; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hale, Lincoln, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Satre, Sturgis; Mrs. Jane Joy, Kaycee; Mr. and Mrs. Jordan, Rapid City.

Albert James Olinger, eldest son of James Preston and Isabelle Olinger, was born at Tekamah, Burt County, Nebraska Jan. 5, 1880, on a farm located by his grandfather in 1857, one of the first nine homesteads in that part of Nebraska.

From the farm he came to Wyoming on July 4, 1901, to his Uncle Oliver "Red" Hanson's ranch one mile north of Node. Where he was employed until the spring of 1902 when the ranch was sold to Tom Bell. He continued to work at the Bell ranch until 1909 and for a number of years was the representative on the annual roundups conducted by the Coffee & Tinnen ranch in the North Platte Valley from Guernsey to Scottsbluff.

He was married to Margaret Mary Pfister on January 6, 1909 at the John Pfister ranch south of Node. With his bride, he moved to a ranch of his own, located at the mouth of Young Woman Creek, which he has operated continuously for the past 45 years.

His immediate relatives at the time of death are his wife, "Maggie" Olinger; a son, Donald J. Olinger of Cheyenne; a daughter, Mrs. Isabel E. Williams of Fort Worth; four brothers, Ralph of Lusk, Elmer, Oliver and Paul of Tekamah, Nebraska; and two grandchildren, Sharon Lee Williams and James Kenneth Olinger.
