Jack E. Pfister

Services for Jack E. Pfister, 67, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1992, at the Bader-Peet Mortuary in Lusk with Rev. Patrick Shea officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

A prominent lifelong rancher of Niobrara County, Pfister died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1992, at the Weston County Hospital in Newcastle following a long illness.

He was born Nov. 24, 1925, in Douglas, Wyo., the son of Edwin and Martha (Huey) Pfister. He received his grade school education in three country schools; Booster, Larson-Hales and Cheyenne River. He graduated from Newcastle High School. His mother was his teacher and they lived in the teacherages during the winters.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, serving mostly in Japan under Gen. Douglas MacArthur.

His life was devoted to ranching in the Red Bird area, east near the South Dakota border and also in the Node area. He received many ribbons for his Rambouillet wool, of which he was very proud.

He was an avid reader, especially of history, current events and poetry. He so loved and enjoyed the times he spent with his granddaughters.

He was a member of the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, the Farm Bureau and the Wyoming Wool Growers Association.

Survivors include his two sons, Jack Jr. of Lusk and Pat of Pinedale; one brother, Jim of Lusk; one sister, Mildred McGee of Cheyenne; two granddaughters, Cally Elizabeth and Lacey Nicole Pfister of Lusk; several nieces and nephews and a special friend Leon Peaslee, who faithfully helped him on the ranch for many years.

For those who wish, memorials to the Stagecoach Museum would be appreciated by the family.
